Eating for three
I don’t know about you but I feel like the household garbage disposal. Often by dinner time I’ve already eaten my way through a meal of leftovers. Take last night for example. At around 5pm I fed my baby girl Lola. She ate most of her pumpkin and rice cereal but not all so subconsciously I ate the rest. Not that appetising but down the hatch anyway. At 6pm my three-year-old, Amelia, sat down to tuna, veggies and couscous (haven’t quite mastered that “By three your kids should eat what you do.”) She, like Lola, ate most but not all so while I was cooking a stir fry for the grownups I polished that off. At breakfast I eat the crusts left on Amelia’s plate and at morning tea I’ll regularly finish off a half a banana or muesli bar. At feeding time tonight I’m trying a trick a friend suggested. A stick of chewing gum in the mouth so I think twice about using my tummy as a food disposal unit. Do you do this too? Please let me know. kellie@bodyafterbaby.com.au
